March 13, 2001 - Wave7 Optics Adds ASIC/FPGA Design Center of Excellence in
Tampa
New facility to assist development of revolutionary optical access system
Alpharetta, GA, March 13, 2001— Optical networking developer Wave7 Optics, Inc.
today announced the establishment of an ASIC/FPGA Center of Excellence in Tampa,
FL. The new facility will drive the development of complex Field Programmable
Gate Arrays (FPGAs) and Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs) for key
components of the Wave7 Optics product suite, including state-of-the-art IP
packet engines that combine with off-the-shelf switching devices to create
unique, cost-effective Ethernet access solutions.

capabilities of the ASIC/FPGA Center will prove crucial to the evolution of the

roll-out.”
The Tampa team will be headed by Patrick Quinn, vice president of Integrated
Technologies.

Tampa team will work closely with our Alpharetta hardware and software
engineering organizations to extend Ethernet technology beyond today’s LAN/WAN
