December 3, 2002 - VocalData and Wave7 Optics Announce Product Interoperability
Combined solution to deliver complete services to
fiber-to-the-home and business (FTTX) optical access market
Richardson, TX — December 3, 2002 — VocalData Inc., the leading provider of
integrated voice and managed network applications for next-generation IP
telephony systems, and Wave7 Optics, a leading developer of optical access
equipment for the fiber-to-the-home and business (FTTX) market, today announced
compatibility of the VocalData VOISS™ application server with Wave7’s Last Mile
Link™ suite of optical access products. As a result, Wave7 will be better able
to help integrated communications service providers offer their subscribers the
highest quality voice applications and services along with unprecedented data
bandwidth and a broad range of video services.
VocalData VOISS is a feature-rich, standards-based voice application server
employed by service providers to offer carrier-grade voice services and enhanced
applications over a multi-vendor, IP-based open architecture. The VOISS platform
allows carriers to deliver enhanced features and PBX capabilities from a server
within their networks — instead of requiring customers to purchase
capital-intensive customer premises equipment (CPE).
Wave7’s Last Mile Link Access System provides a common architecture that enables
the triple play of voice, video, and data services to residential, business and
multi-tenant subscribers. Now being deployed nationwide by various telcos,
utilities, MSOs and other service providers, the Last Mile Link effectively
overcomes past cost and deployment barriers to optical access and allows
operators to offer a broad range of high margin services without the constraints
of a bandwidth capacity bottleneck in the last mile.
“Wave7’s innovative approach to optical access provides integrated
communications providers with incredible bandwidth and capabilities at a very
competitive cost,” said Mark Whittier, senior vice president of marketing for
VocalData. “The significance of this alliance is that it gives broadband
operators the ability to add high-margin voice services. In addition, it
demonstrates that VocalData’s advanced application server can power
revenue-generating applications and services over a wide variety of access
technologies, including Wave7 Optics’ unique suite of optical access products.”
”Wave7 is pleased to have VocalData as one of our first Complementary Product
Partners for the Last Mile Link Access System,” added Emmanuel Vella, Wave7
Optics’ chief marketing officer. “By carrying out comprehensive interoperability
and compatibility testing with VocalData VOISS and products of our other
partners, Wave7 can recommend an end-to-end, feature- and performance-rich FTTX
solution that can be deployed quickly and easily without the integration
problems common in alternative solutions.”
