Economic Forum
World Economic Forum, based in Geneva, announcing today
their Technology Pioneers for 2005
Atlanta - December 6, 2004 - Wave7 Optics Inc., the world's leading supplier of
point-to-multipoint Ethernet FTTP (fiber-to-the-premises) systems for
residential and business services, today announced the company has been named a
"Technology Pioneer" for 2005 by the World Economic Forum.
"Companies selected as Technology Pioneers are developing and applying the most
innovative and transformational technologies," said Sohini Chowdhury, Senior
Community Manager, Technology Pioneers. "Wave7 Optics represents well this
year's class of companies, who are at the forefront of cutting-edge work in
fields such as nanotechnology, drug development, renewable energy and
telecommunications. We believe the companies we select as Technology Pioneers
have the potential to significantly impact the way business and society
operates."
"This recognition gives credit to our team, our investors, our unparalleled
optical broadband technology and to our customers around the world who are
deploying our Last Mile Link system to provide extremely high-bandwidth
triple-play voice, video and data services," said Tom Tighe, CEO of Wave7
Optics. "This is a fitting way to cap a great year for us - one that saw us
triple revenues compared to 2003, establish leadership in the North American
market and enter multiple new markets internationally. We have a good deal of
momentum going into 2005 and we look forward to meeting the growing worldwide
demand for FTTP with new products and through our existing and new technology
and sales partnerships."
In line with the Forum's commitment to improving the state of the world, the
Technology Pioneers program was established in 2000 to provide a new perspective
on technological change. The program is run by the World Economic Forum, with
Apax Partners and Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu as Strategic Partners.
Through its Technology Pioneers program, the Forum identifies and integrates
those companies around the world that are involved in the design and development
of new technologies. Each innovation, whether it has large or small
consequences, is another step in society's attempt to harness, adapt and utilize
technology to change and improve our world. The World Economic Forum is invested
in monitoring and highlighting these innovations and exploring possible societal
repercussions.
