Press Release

April 5, 2005 - Elkhart Telephone Chooses Wave7 Optics for Their New FTTP Network After a Head-to-Head “Bake Off” Competition

Atlanta, Ga. – April 5, 2005 - Wave7 Optics Inc., the world's leading supplier of point-to-multipoint Ethernet FTTP (fiber-to-the-premises) systems for residential and business services, today announced that Elkhart Telephone of Kansas has selected Wave7’s Last Mile Link (LML) system for their new FTTP network. Elkhart will deploy the network, which will provide a “triple play” selection of 4-line per residence VOIP, 100-channel RF-video television and high-speed data services, throughout its current subscriber base region of 1400 residential and business lines by the end of 2Q 2006.

The selection of Wave7 follows a head-to-head 30-day trial between Wave7’s Last Mile Link Ethernet-based technology and the GPON (gigabit PON) technology used by another FTTP vendor. The trial offered voice, video and data services to residential and business customers in the town of Elkhart and gave Elkhart Telephone the opportunity to evaluate key deployment criteria, including ease of equipment installation, service provisioning, quality of service and customer support operations.

“We thoroughly tested each system and I will say that the other company was a strong contender, but, in the end, they could not match the feature set and functionality provided by the Last Mile Link system,” said Mark Forbes, Director of Network Services of Elkhart Telephone. “Among other things, we really liked Wave7’s ability to deploy their OLT in the CO or in the field, the LML’s superior bandwidth throughput and their more capable element management system, which has true flow-through provisioning. They also demonstrated superior technical and sales support. We were impressed by the strong references provided by their current customers and appreciated their overall approach to winning our business.”

“As demonstrated by their leadership in organizations like OPATSCO and ‘The Future…Faster,” Elkhart Telephone is a progressive-minded operation in constant search of the best network technologies for their customers,” said Tom Tighe, CEO of Wave7 Optics. “We are honored that they selected the Last Mile Link system for their FTTP broadband service.”
