Press Release

October 11, 2005 - Wave7 Optics and UtiliCor Sign Agreement to Foster the Deployment of FTTP Networks in the Utility and Municipal Sectors

ATLANTA / BOSTON - October 11, 2005 - Wave7 Optics Inc., a market leader in fiber-to-the-home and -premises (FTTH/P) broadband equipment for residential and business services, and UtiliCor, a leading sales and service company for electrical and communications products for the utility industry, today announced a strategic partnership to aid utilities and municipalities interested in deploying FTTP networks.  The companies made the announcement at the American Public Power Association (APPA) Community Broadband conference, taking place October 9 - 12 in Boston.

Acting as an agent for Wave7 Optics and leveraging their extensive and long-standing relationships in these areas, UtiliCor will engage with entities in the U.S. to discuss early in the planning or bidding process the benefits of Wave7's Last Mile Link and Trident7 systems.  UtiliCor also will be able to assist with installation planning and other aspects in getting the network up and running.

"We see first hand how many utilities are interested in delivering the benefits of fiber optic broadband services to their customers," said Rick Morrison, President of UtiliCor.  "We are excited to be working with one of the true leaders in FTTP network equipment and are impressed with Wave7's record of success and customer support."

"Wave7 is committed to bringing FTTP to the power utility space and we believe that we are underscoring that commitment with this agreement, as UtiliCor is the best possible partner in enabling us to emerge as the clear market leader in the utility and municipal sectors," said Tom Tighe, CEO of Wave7 Optics.  "In fact, this relationship already is paying dividends, as seen last week in our announcement of the Pulaski Electric project in Tennessee."

Wave7 Optics has a long list of utility and municipal customers in the U.S. and overseas, including Jackson Energy Authority (JEA) of Jackson, Tennessee - currently the largest FTTP network in the U.S.  JEA, also a UtiliCor customer, was honored recently with the Broadband Properties Magazine Cornerstone Award - for the "Best FTTP Public Utility Network" -- presented at the annual Broadband Properties Summit, held in Dallas and co-sponsored by FOCUS (Fiber Optic Communities of the United States).
