Press Release

December 5, 2005 - Cedar Point Communications and Wave7 Optics complete interoperability testing to facilitate VOIP and MULTIMEDIA services in FTTP networks.  Two companies also create sales and support partnership.

DERRY, NH and ALPHARETTA, GA (December 5, 2005) - Cedar Point Communications and Wave7 Optics Inc announced today the completion of interoperability testing, between Cedar Point's SAFARI C³ Multimedia Switching System and Wave7 Optics' Trident7 and Last Mile Link(tm) (LML) Systems, that will make it easier and more-cost effective to deploy VoIP and multimedia services in fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) networks.

The two companies, which tested interoperability against both PacketCable and Session Internet Protocol (SIP) standards, also announced that they have entered into a partnership for the sale and support of fiber-based end-to-end Voice over IP solutions that combine Cedar Point's SAFARI C³ and Wave7 Optics' LML and Trident7 FTTP systems.  Cedar Point is the leader in integrated packet-based voice switching technologies for the cable MSO industry and Wave7 is a leading supplier of FTTP broadband network equipment for residential and business services.

"This collaboration addresses the growing interest among Wave7 Optics' existing and prospective customers for a simple, cost-effective and scalable voice and multimedia switching solution," said Tom Tighe, CEO of Wave7 Optics.  "Achieving interoperability with the Cedar Point suite of products represents another important step towards assuring a smooth deployment of triple-play services for our customers."

"By working with an established leader in the FTTP space, we can capitalize on SAFARI C³'s flexibility against any access medium to create new opportunities for both companies," said George Kassas, founder and executive vice president, business development for Cedar Point Communications.  "Interoperability between our SAFARI C³ and Wave7's widely deployed LML and recently introduced Trident7 equipment enables operators to reduce costs and to simplify the deployment and ongoing operations of high-quality, highly-reliable voice services."

The Wave7 Optics LML offers network operators the ability to deploy a single, flexible IP-based optical Ethernet network for voice, data and video (CATV broadcast or IP) over a single fiber.  The Trident7 fully supports EFM, GPON and LML on a "blade by blade" basis and incorporates many of Wave7's unique and patented FTTP innovations, including full support for the PacketCable, SIP and MGCP VoIP standards, multi-layer QoS, integrated RF return for interactive video, industry leading 128-bit encryption and Stimulated Raman Scattering (SRS) immunity for the highest quality video.

SAFARI C³ is the only totally integrated carrier class switch that incorporates -- at no additional cost  -- all of the components that make up the PacketCable voice switching infrastructure, eliminating the need for operators to purchase, maintain, upgrade and regression test separate Call Management Servers, Media Gateways, Record Keeping Servers, Announcement Servers, Signaling Gateways, Ethernet Switches and CALEA servers.

Designed to accommodate not only current voice switching needs but also the anticipated migration to video telephony, multimedia services and seamless mobility, the PacketCable-qualified SAFARI C³ provides superior performance and reliability, significantly reducing capital expenditures, system integration and operations costs for cable operators offering telephony services while increasing network integrity, security and privacy.
