Press Release

October 30, 2006 - City of Auburn, Indiana to Build New FTTP Network Using the Trident7 Optical Access Platform from Wave7 Optics. Spectrum Engineering Corp. to Manage Project Planning, Design and Construction Tasks.

ATLANTA – October 30, 2006 – Wave7 Optics Inc., a leading supplier of fiber-to-the-home or -premises (FTTH/FTTP) equipment for residential and business services, today announced that the City of Auburn, Ind. has selected the Trident7™ Optical Access Platform for a new municipal FTTP network. Construction will begin this month, with first priority given to connecting the school system. All parties expect that by the end of November 2006 approximately 4000 students, teachers and staff across four school facilities will be learning, teaching and collaborating over a 500Mbps secure Wave7 Optics powered network. The increased bandwidth also is allowing the school system to roll out a much anticipated attendance application.

Subsequently, upon completing the rest of the site engineering and related logistics, the City of Auburn will begin construction of the network’s second phase in 1Q 2007. The new network will provide telephone and high-speed data services to all of the City’s business districts, including more than 1200 homes and businesses. Deployment is expected to be complete by the end of 2007. During the final stages of this phase, the City will evaluate and determine whether to offer similar services to all residents.

The City of Auburn decided to proceed with a city-wide FTTP deployment after much public interest and a successful year-long run providing FTTP-based services to several businesses with Wave7’s Last Mile Link™ (LML) system.

"Wave 7’s LML has provided a rock solid network for our inaugural customers since first brining them online over 20 months ago," said Chris Schweitzer, Auburn’s IT Manager. "The reliability, quality and low total cost of ownership of the Wave7 solution were determining factors in further deploying the product with our community wide business deployments. We are very excited about the Trident7 platform and the added functionality and flexibility it will provide in our community’s network deployment."

"In late 2004, the City of Auburn was on the verge of losing two of its largest businesses. We were under the gun to assist Auburn with developing and implementing a comprehensive broadband plan. Wave7 stepped up to meet the demanding deployment schedule at a time when others were unable. Wave 7’s price, delivery and service were all very attractive. The product has operated well and customer service/support has been solid. With the community now looking forward to a more complete business deployment, it was natural to extend services using Wave 7 with the new Trident7 platform," said Scott Bowles, President of Spectrum Engineering.

"We have been very successful in the municipal market to date and the Trident7 will help us increase our traction in that area," said Emmanuel Vella, Chief Marketing Officer, Wave7 Optics. "Furthermore, our years of experience working with leading consulting and engineering firms, such as Spectrum, facilitate many aspects of network construction and the transfer of network operations to the customer."

The Trident7 is the industry’s most advanced and flexible FTTP platform, as it delivers standards-based EPON and GPON technologies in the same platform, which allows service providers to cost-effectively deliver a much broader array of services, as compared to other access network technologies.

Wave7 Optics is demonstrating the capabilities of its Trident7 and LML FTTP systems at next week’s TelcoTV conference and exhibition in Dallas (November 6th – 8th), where visitors to booth 1403 can learn about optimum transport and delivery methods for IPTV, RF video, HDTV and other services to end-user customers.
