Press Release

October 03, 2006 - Crawfordsville (Indiana) Electric Light & Power Selects Wave7 Optics Trident7 Optical Access Platform for Muni FTTP Network. New “Fiber-to-the-Premises” Network to Pass 9500 Homes and Businesses by 4Q 2007.

LAS VEGAS – October 3, 2006 – Wave7 Optics Inc., a leading supplier of fiber-to-the-home or -premises (FTTH/FTTP) equipment for residential and business services, today announced that Crawfordsville Electric Light & Power (CELP) will install the Trident7™ Optical Access Platform for a new municipal network slated to begin service in January 2007. CELP is a community-owned electric utility serving approximately 10,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in Crawfordsville, Ind. and the surrounding area.

CELP will deploy the Trident7 configured for EPON (the IEEE 802.3ah Ethernet in the First Mile standard) based services. The Trident7 is the industry’s most advanced and flexible FTTP platform, as it delivers standards-based EPON and GPON technologies in the same platform, which allows service providers to deliver cost-effectively a much broader array of services, as compared to other access network technologies. A typical residential service package will comprise over 150 channels of IP television, 40 music channels and a data service up to 8 Mb/s symmetrical.

"We are pleased to begin construction of our FTTP network with the Trident7 equipment, which will help us set the pace in our region for broadband services. This network represents our effort to boost Crawfordsville nationally in terms of economic development, improve the reliability and availability of communication services and give the residents of the area a choice of service providers," said Roy E. Kaser, Manager of CELP.

"An advanced feature set and relative ease of operations and network scalability make the Trident7 an excellent choice in municipal settings," said Emmanuel Vella, Chief Marketing Officer, Wave7 Optics. "The Trident7 excels in areas such as low initial first costs of installation, total cost of ownership and service flexibility."

Spectrum Engineering Corp. of Auburn, Ind. provided feasibility, business planning, and vendor bid evaluation to CELP and provides ongoing consulting support. Integrated Broadband Services Incorporated of Narragansett, RI. provided network design.

Wave7 Optics is exhibiting the complete LML and Trident7 product lines at the FTTH Council Conference in Las Vegas, October 2 -- 5, at The Venetian Resort (booth 121). In addition, Wave7 Optics CTO, Jim Farmer, is participating in the panel discussion and presentation, "FTTH Success Stories – Municipal Networks," on October 3rd, 11 am – 12 pm and is giving a paper, "Optical Considerations in FTTH Networks," on October 4th, 10:30 – 11:00 am. Stephen Thomas, Chief Architect for Wave7 Optics, will present his paper, "OAM&P in Passive Optical Networks," on October 4th, 1:45 – 2:15 pm.
