June 11, 2007 - Graceba Total Communications Chooses Wave7 Optics for New FTTP Network Serving both Residential and Enterprise Customers
Atlanta, Ga. – June 11, 2007 - Wave7 Optics, a leading supplier of fiber-to-the-home and -premises (FTTH/FTTP) broadband network equipment for residential and business services, today announced that Graceba Total Communications, Inc., an independent operator serving the Wiregrass area of southeastern Alabama, has selected Wave7’s new Trident7™ Universal Access Platform for their new EPON (IEEE standard) FTTP network. Graceba provides the latest digital television, high-speed data and telephone services to more than 25,000 homes and businesses within its service region.
Graceba started deploying the network, which will provide a “triple play” selection of VOIP, video and high-speed data services, back in January of this year. Graceba first installed equipment in greenfield developments and connected business customers within their existing service area. The company anticipates that the new network will reach 1,000+ subscribers in multiple communities and areas by the end of 2007.
“Two aspects of the Trident7 and Wave7 in general really set them apart from the competition,” said James Etheredge, Chief Operating Officer. “For our residential customers, Wave7’s ability to incorporate RF return enables a completely interactive video experience and having a single-fiber system design will speed deployment and reduce our installation costs. For our business customers, support for all access standards, as well as line-rate L2 Switching and line-rate L3 Routing of traffic, will enable us to offer the type of SLAs necessary for advanced enterprise services.”
Furthermore, in order to meet Graceba’s requirements, the Trident7 had to meet interoperability requirements with selected softswitch and router equipment from MetaSwitch and Cisco.
“Graceba is a progressive-minded operation in constant search of the best network technologies for their customers,” said Tom Tighe, CEO of Wave7 Optics. “We are honored that they selected the Trident7 system for their FTTP broadband service.”
Wave7 Optics is displaying the Trident7 system, the industry’s only FTTP platform capable of delivering standards-based GPON, EPON and Point-to-Point technologies simultaneously from one chassis, at NXTComm in Chicago, as part of Embarq Logistics “Partners Pavilion” in booth 2826, June 19 – 21. Wave7 Optics also is participating at the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers “Cable-Tec Expo” in Orlando, June 20 – 22, in booth 632.
